Southeast Super Trucks Series

The Southeast Super Trucks Series teams rolled in to Anderson Motor Speedway Friday afternoon with anticipation and excitement. Then came the rain… the race was rescheduled for Sunday April the 1st.  Now this inaugural event for this series was full of unknowns. What was going to happen, are the trucks ready, will we have a top ten, sponsors, what if I crash? You name it, drivers and teams were thinking it. I witnessed that everyone was thrilled to be at this first event. The pits were like an army of ants nonstop preparing the new trucks for practice. The staff at Anderson Motor Speedway made folks with the Super Trucks feel as if they were right at home.

Race day came and the sun warmed up the atmosphere, and practice and qualifying started. Kenneth Headen #33 Truck was fastest in qualifying. The first five trucks were inverted at the front of the field. Seventeen trucks were on the starting grid.

As with any short track, the tight action packed close racing brought a few accidents, a few words, and handshakes after it was all said and done.  It shows that these teams are looking forward to this series for 2012.

I promised to try to write a short story for the SEST races. Trust me I am going to have fun with this. I want to invite your opinions and ideas. My photography will tell a few stories as well. Therefore, when you are viewing the images on my web site, I hope to capture a second in time that brings back memories, and puts a smile on your face. Speaking of smiles, I bet Mart Nesbitt still cannot wipe the smile off his face after collecting his first win of the season, and the first win in the Southeast Super Truck Series. The #92 team was happy to get the win. I was talking with Mart before green flag, and I stated, “I think you have a top five truck today.” He said, “Yeah we are rolling off the grid in third, and I will have to stay in the gas with this 60 lap shoot out” and that he did, and was on a rail around the 3/8 of mile semi banked track at AMS. The results and other awards have been posted on the SEST Face book page. Please become a fan. If you are reading this and wondering about the SEST Series, come see the next race, or if you are looking for a series to race in, you found it. Check out the contact page and FB pages.

Since this is the first story, in the future I hope to add some humor and information about the series and teams as we get into the season. I do wish to say, “Thanks to Jeff Myers, Ronnie Payne, and the SEST Series Staff for inviting me to tag along and capture the history of this new series” Folks are talking far and wide about the series, and I will estimate now the pits are going to get crazy as teams keep accumulating Let’s all be a part of the growth, and have fun.
Thanks,
Keith Anderson
